1. Recheck the offer and audience fit
Make sure the campaign is reaching people who can genuinely benefit from the offer. Review the message, eligibility, service area, price context and call to action. If the offer is unclear or attracts the wrong audience, a larger budget may produce more low-quality activity rather than better business outcomes.
2. Verify conversion tracking
Confirm that the action you optimise for is recorded correctly. Test forms, phone links, email links and WhatsApp journeys on desktop and mobile. Check for duplicate events, missing events and conversions that fire before the action is completed. If the tracking is unreliable, campaign decisions may be based on misleading data.
3. Review the landing page
The landing page should continue the promise made by the ad. Keep the headline specific, explain the value, answer the most important questions and make the next step obvious. Check loading speed, mobile layout, field friction, validation messages and confirmation or fallback behaviour. A polished ad cannot compensate for a confusing destination.
4. Assess creative fatigue and message quality
Look at the range of messages and creative variations, not only one top performer. Check whether the creative clearly communicates the offer and gives the intended audience a reason to act. When results weaken, consider whether the audience has seen the message too often, the creative has become less relevant, or the offer itself needs work.
5. Evaluate lead quality and follow-up
Where possible, connect campaign data to what happens after an enquiry. Are leads relevant? Are contact details usable? How quickly does the team respond? Which enquiries progress to a meaningful sales conversation? Without this feedback, optimising only for inexpensive leads can reward the wrong outcome.
6. Understand the economics and constraints
Define what a qualified enquiry is worth to the business and what cost range is sustainable. Account for the sales cycle, conversion rate after the lead, delivery capacity and cash-flow constraints. Avoid treating a short period of favourable performance as a guarantee that the same result will continue at a higher spend.
- Check tracking and conversion definitions.
- Review the landing page on a real phone.
- Confirm lead quality with the people handling enquiries.
- Ensure response and delivery capacity can handle additional demand.
- Increase spend in controlled steps and review the impact.
7. Scale with a learning plan
Before changing budgets, write down what you expect to happen and which metric will inform the decision. Change budgets gradually enough to learn, while accounting for the platform, campaign objective and available data. No single checklist guarantees performance, but a disciplined review reduces avoidable uncertainty.
Do not scale a broken journey
If tracking is unreliable, the offer is unclear, the page is difficult to use, or follow-up is slow, fix those issues before asking the campaign to deliver more.
