There is no single Google Ads budget that works for every business. A useful budget is linked to the value of a qualified customer, the economics of your offer and the quality of the conversion path—not simply to what a competitor spends.
Begin with the business outcome
Define whether you need qualified leads, sales, booked appointments or another outcome. Then estimate what an acquired customer is worth to your business after variable costs. If your average sale value is ₹30,000 but delivery costs consume most of it, revenue alone will overstate how much you can afford to pay for acquisition.
Work backwards from allowable acquisition cost
Estimate the proportion of leads that become customers using your own historical data. If 1 in 10 qualified leads becomes a customer and the allowable acquisition cost is ₹10,000, the rough allowable cost per qualified lead is around ₹1,000 before other campaign and sales costs. This is a planning relationship, not a forecast; use conservative ranges when data is limited.
Separate media spend from management and landing-page costs
The media budget paid to the ad platform is not the full campaign cost. Consider management, creative production, landing-page work, analytics, taxes and sales follow-up. These costs affect the actual acquisition economics and should be included in internal planning.
Test the offer and tracking before scaling
Before raising spend, confirm conversion tracking, location and search-term relevance, landing-page message match, lead routing and response quality. Check whether conversions represent genuine enquiries rather than button clicks or low-quality submissions. A larger budget amplifies the quality of the system you already have.
Use a bounded experiment
Choose a test budget that you can afford to learn from without compromising operations. Define the hypothesis, conversion action, audience or keyword scope, test period and stop-or-adjust rules in advance. Avoid changing budgets, keywords, creative and landing pages simultaneously unless the data is too limited to support a controlled test.
Review lead quality with sales
Record qualified leads, contact rates, booked conversations, sales and customer value. Search terms and low-cost conversions can look attractive but still produce poor commercial outcomes. Feedback from the person speaking to leads is an essential input to campaign optimisation.
Put the idea to work
Model a few assumptions with the free marketing budget planner, then replace the defaults with your actual campaign and sales data.
